John Fitzgerad

Chairman

Hi, I'm John. I’m 66, retired, and a resident of Mountsorrel for 37 years. My hobbies include repairs, woodworking, badminton, spending time in Cumbria and with family, and enjoying life! My background includes 20 years with Royal Mail as a Postman, Manager, Supervisor and Health and Safety Officer before 5 years with a pharmaceutical company as a Facilities and Health and Safety Manager. Then I took semi-retirement but worked part-time for Mountsorrel Parish Council looking after the local parks and as a RPII inspector responsible for inspecting the play ground equipment with in the Parish. I fully retired in 2022. I am currently a Health and safety governor at Longwhatton Primary School.

Paul Worth

Treasurer

Hi, I'm Paul. I have been repairing and creating things for as long as I can remember, my own Scalextric track extensions as a child. Toys for my children, various items for friends, and lately, old 70s and 80s hi-fi equipment. I am a chartered engineer and spend most of my working life fixing and inventing things as well. I'm passionate about saving things from landfills, but I'm also conscious about not passing on anything that could be dangerous. I'm very proud to be a part of the Fix it Group 23 and hope to make a difference for as many local people as possible.

Joanne Liversidge

Secretary / Events & Publicity Manager

Hi, I'm Jo, and I have a background in chemical engineering and environmental management having worked for 15 years in the power industry as an environmental compliance officer and offshore energy projects developer. After I had my little girl I decided to take a step back from industry to spend more time at home with my family. I now have my own facepainting business which I work around my family commitments. I find this a fulfilling creative outlet and lots of fun. I enjoy volunteering and am an active member of my daughter’s school PTA, through which I met John. I felt inspired to join the repair cafe team after seeing them in action one Sunday, and I am grateful to be part of the growing community.

Chris Ward

Assistant Secretary

Hi, I'm Chris. My background has been in hospitality management and then in 2006 I moved in to work based learning assessing hospitality. I have since worked with a range of employers to enhance their employees’ skills. In 2019 I moved to Rotherham, North Notts College and started to teach Business management and leadership. I currently work for a private training provider and support clients with their leadership development. It my spare time I like to read novels and walk. In 2023 I completed trek for charities and have completed a 50km walk across the Jurassic coast for Mental Health UK. I like to set myself challenges and my next challenge will be 100km trek in May.
